ach summer, as dusk falls on the peninsula of Agios Ioannis Detis, a quiet anticipation settles over the tamarisk trees. Just above Monastiri beach, in a clearing sculpted by light and stone, Cine Έναστρον lights up once again. This year’s programme, curated for the fourth season by film critic Chryssostomakis Laktaridis, weaves together tributes, anniversaries, premieres and hidden gems. The 2025 selections are bold, inclusive and emotionally wide-ranging, affirming Έναστρον’s role not just as a screen, but as a cultural compass for the island.
A Cinema of Tributes and Time
A second major tribute celebrates female Greek documentary filmmakers, with powerful entries like Lesvia by Tzeli Hadjidimitriou (24/6), Adespota Kormia by Elina Psykou (8/7), Tack by Vania Turner (29/8), and Azititoi by Marianna Economou (19/8), many aligned with Pride Month and social justice movements.
Classics That Shaped Us
Films from the World, for the Island
Beyond the anniversaries, the programme explores new geographies: from Mamoru Hosoda’s anime (Belle, 19/6 and Mirai, 14/8), to the Oscar-winning animation Flow by Gints Zilbalodis (15/7), and Italian-language cinema ranging from Fellini to contemporary titles (La Dolce Vita, L’Eclisse, The Eight Mountains, La Chimera).
Local and diasporic voices are also present. Documentaries by Paros Park’s own Giannis Tritsibidas, Viet Kostas (12/8) and Aivaliotiko (2/9), explore identity, exile, and memory, while Parees (6/8) by Sotiris Goritsas and the double feature Chrysa Vasta and Wasted Youth (29/8) close the circle with urgency and style.
All screenings at Cine Enastron are free of charge, creating a radically inclusive space where visitors and locals gather not as ticket holders, but as participants in a shared evening. Seating is first come, with stone terraces and folding chairs arranged amphitheatrically beneath open sky.
This year’s lineup spans over 30 films, screening between June 17 and September 16, most beginning around 21:00, always under the stars and in good company. You can find the detailed film list, with all the descriptions and casts, at the official site of Cine Enastron.
